What We Do
Emirates International Charity Foundation works hand in hand with refugees and displaced communities through their entire journey, from initial support to long-term stability.
Our 2,300 humanitarians co-create solutions with and for more than 4 million people in over 20 countries every year. We do this by working closely with them to address their needs, developing local partnerships to build resilience, and amplifying the efforts of donors who make abundance happen.
Key Focus Areas
To bring about a world in which displaced persons are enabled to rebuild, thrive, and enrich their communities, Emirates International Charity Foundation is investing efforts across six focus areas:
Emergencies
When disaster strikes, people can find themselves without a home, without a way to make a living, without basic services like water and sanitation. They require their needs covered quickly and efficiently. Emirates International Charity Foundation responds where we can make an impact, and when there is a gap in our existing services, we partner with other organizations to leverage our respective strengths.
Women and Children
Women and children are at the heart of every humanitarian crisis. As natural disasters, epidemics and conflict drive millions of people from the homes they know and love, Emirates International Charity Foundation provides them with critical life-saving services to bring security and dignity, including healthcare, protection from violence against, nutrition assistance, and livelihood and economic empowerment. By supporting women and children, we help families survive today while building stronger, more resilient communities for the future.
Natural Disasters Response
Over the past decade, natural disasters triggered an average of 21.5 million new displacements each year—more than twice as many as those caused by conflict and violence. Emirates International Charity Foundation works to keep people from being displaced, and we co-create livelihood and education programs with those who are forced to migrate. We also redesign settlements to focus on sustainability, introducing innovations such as solar power and water conservation solutions that protect the future of their regions.
Education and Livelihoods
Education and livelihoods are central to helping displaced people move from survival to self-sufficiency. We offer practical learning opportunities and skills training that help individuals build livelihoods and improve their economic stability. By co-designing solutions with local partners and communities, we ensure that education and livelihood initiatives are culturally relevant, equitable, and responsive to people’s unique circumstances.
Local Leadership and Solutions
Engaging our customers and team members every step of the way, we co-create innovative solutions that allow for local leadership and resilience to emerge from within and endure long after we step away. Our goal is to build a 21st-century humanitarian organization that is truly worthy of the displaced communities we serve.
Health and Nutrition
Emirates International Charity Foundation works to prevent and treat malnutrition among displaced communities by providing food assistance and health services, especially for children and women. Our lifesaving care includes operating stabilization centers for severely malnourished children, conducting regular nutritional screening and monitoring, providing therapeutic feeding and micronutrient supplementation, and promoting community health and hygiene education.
Programs & Services
Emirates International Charity Foundation believes that a fulfilling life calls for the care of body, mind, and spirit, the experience of being and feeling safe, the peace of house and home, the pursuit of education, the dignity of work and financial security, and the experience of loving human connection. And this is what we aim to provide.
